 run by their owner;

 unique in some way (e.g. business model; products and services or markets);

 set up to take advantage of a defined opportunity;

 have an annual turnover of between R500 000 and R3 000 000;

 trading profitably, even if just at breakeven;

 are involved in the service or manufacturing sectors;

 able to demonstrate untapped market potential;
